You’ll love my place because of the location, the outdoors space, and the neighborhood. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. Meadows Manor was built in 1941. It is three stories and is 4200 square feet. Guy and Faye Barnes are only the second owners of the home. It is now a wedding and event venue as well as a bed and breakfast. No one resides in the home. We are located in downtown Ruston.

There are many more attractions all over town, such as Louisiana Tech University, Grambling State University, and Duck Dynasty, only 30 minutes away. Welcome to Herbert's Hideaway, named in honor of our Grandfather who LOVED fishing on Lake D'Arbonne. He and our Nanny purchased this land over 50 years ago and built their lake house from the ground up. We truly thank our Grandparents for the many memories created here for four generations. From spending time enjoying coffee and the beautiful view to catching fish just steps outside the front door, it truly is a retreat getaway from the distractions of everyday life. From the moment you arrive, you will appreciate the view of the lake and the comfort of our home. It truly is lakefront property just steps away from fishing and fun on the lake. As you walk through our recently remodeled lake house, you will be greeted by plush chairs and a sectional couch with a beautiful view of the lake through picture windows from sunrise to sunset. Our kitchen is well stocked with spices and cookware and has a large dining table which seats 6-8 comfortably (although we've had as many as 10 around the table at family gatherings). The living room is inviting with 2 couches and a relaxing recliner; enjoy cheering on your favorite sports teams (Geaux LSU Tigers and Saints!) or watching your favorite shows on HBO, Showtime and Netflix on our 58" 4K HD Smart TV. Off the main area are 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The corner and middle bedrooms have very comfortable queen beds with pillow top mattresses and the Master has a very comfortable king size bed with a pillow top mattress. Outdoors is a delight for all ages; from playing corn hole and ping pong to relaxing and having a glass of wine with a view of the lake! Or, cast a line in the water and see what you can catch; we have shared lots of fishing stories through the years! By night, enjoy the outdoors fishing from the lighted dock or next to the fire pit as you unwind and share good times and s’mores! Without any doubt, our place is a special treat for fishermen; we have generations of fishermen in our family and we've had many fish fry's with fish that were caught just hours earlier. Lake D'Arbonne has become a popular destination for some of the most desirable fishing and tournaments. Other fun activities include board games and cards. We love Monopoly and Yahtzee just to name a few. Additional notes: Because we are located so close to the lake, it is worth noting that children should wear life jackets while outside and have full supervision of an adult. Also, being on the lake often means that you will see bugs that have made their way indoors. About 45 minutes from Shreveport/Bossier City, our lake house is located on a quiet curve of Lake Bistineau, known for its Spanish Moss-draped cypress trees and lovely sunsets. Wildlife and Fisheries began the lake draw down to control Salvinia on July 6. Update on October 2, 2020. Swimming and kayaking are still possible by walking/wading out to the deeper water. However, the lake bed is not totally dry, so it is muddy in places.

Our lakehouse has a gorgeous view of the lake. There are a lot of stairs leading down to the lake with your own private dock. Our house is in a very private setting with a carport and some extra parking. All 3 bedrooms are upstairs. 1 bathroom is upstairs and 1 bathroom downstairs. You can sit out on the dock to fish or just relax. We are close to Wal Mart and restaurants. We have 1 king bed in a bedroom, 1 queen bed in a bedroom, and a queen bed in the 3rd bedroom. We also have a couch and a queen air mattress. Come enjoy your stay at the lake!

Welcome! I’m a long term host on another platform and this was my family home. We specialize in 30 day plus stays focusing on executive and Air Force relocations, local accommodations for insurance repairs and folks doing home improvements. We have a gardener, pool service and provide weekly maid service with linen changes. We are happy to be your home while you find a new home or wait for your repairs to be complete. We have RV parking if your furniture or outdoor toys need to be stored in a container or trailer while you find your new home. These photos are pre-decorator finishes so there will be additional pieces of furniture in the back guest room, Artwork, TV's in each bedroom and the formal dining room is being converted into a home office space. My current model for short term rentals has worked well in Washington so I wanted to get the space on the market in case anyone needs to plan on accommodations mid Feb. I plan on having all updates done by the end of January 2021. Some updates include new kitchen refrigerator, converting the old formal dining room into a dedicated office space with a tasteful desk, rug and possible sleeper sofa as well as built in bookcases. We'll be adding more Persian rugs and more design elements throughout the home.
